Book Excerpt

Introduction

Though you have made me see troubles, many and bitter, you will restore my life again; from the depths of the earth you will again bring me up. (Psalm 71:20, NIV)

If you need restoration in any area of your life, God promises that He will comfort you, heal your pain and sorrow, strengthen you and lift you back up.  “He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness for His name’s sake” (Psalm 23:3, NKJV).  “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit” (Psalm 34:18, NIV).

Throughout the Bible, we see that God restores.  He is our Restorer. According to  Webster’s dictionary, the definition of restore is to give back, return, reestablish to a former, more desirable condition; to bring back to a state of health, soundness, or vigor; to put back, return, as to a former place, position, or rank. And, not only does God restore but He restores it better than it was before. We see this in Job 42:10, “And the Lord restored Job’s losses when he prayed for his friends.  Indeed the Lord gave Job twice as much as he had before.”  God can restore any area in your life.

Sometimes we need restoration because of our own mistakes, bad choices, sin, etc.  But other times, we experience injustices against us or pain/loss and tragedy that we had no control over.  As a result, we may experience intense pain, anger, unforgiveness, frustration, regret, feelings of rejection from people and God, confusion, sadness, and other intense emotions.  In the midst of our pain, God will never leave us or forsake us.  He is holding us in His loving arms, surrounding us with His love, comfort and peace that passes all understanding.  God promises that He will be close to us, heal our pain and suffering, and reestablish and renew our lives.  We can have peace, strength and joy again.

This book contains specific prayers for restoration with related Scriptures to meditate on.  Remember that God’s mercies are new every morning.  It is my prayer that, “the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast” (1 Peter 5:10, NIV).

God bless, Violet

“So I will restore to you the years that the swarming locust has eaten…” (Joel 2:25a, NKJV)

He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.” (Psalm 147:3, NKJV)

“I will make rivers flow on the dry hills

and springs flow through the valleys.
I will change the desert into a lake of water
and the dry land into fountains of water.
I will make trees grow in the desert—
cedars, acacia, myrtle, and olive trees.
I will put pine, fir, and cypress trees
    growing together in the desert.
 People will see these things and understand;
they will think carefully about these things and learn that the Lord’s power did this,
that the Holy One of Israel made these things.” (Isaiah 41:18-20, NCV)

Finally, brothers and sisters, rejoice! Strive for full restoration, encourage one another, be of one mind, live in peace. And the God of love and peace will be with you.” (2 Corinthians 13:11, NIV)
